Adjusting temperature:
the Prodigy thermostat that vbm uses are with a range between 70-120 c the adjustment knob is pretty sensitive one millimeter or so will make a difference if you go too far you will hear it click and there for you will go below the temp of that moment

To get the flange on the top off/loose:
Remove top nut and hex bolts on flange and remove -- if it seems stuck: Give the flange a gentle tap over the bolt holes with a piece of wood. If that doesn't do it, give it an equally gentle tap(s) in the horizontal direction.
